The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Guard (Unarmed)

The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Guard (Unarmed) in the Regional Security Office.

Opening Date : October 11, 2023
Closing Date : October 15, 2023
Open to : All Interested Applicants/All Sources
Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 5,581,411p.a. (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-03)

ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :

Provides security for Embassy personnel and facilities by conducting access control and visitor screening duties as a member of a local guard program. Prevents unauthorized access ; protect life ; maintain order ; deter criminal attacks against employees ; dependents and property and terrorist acts against all U.S. assets ; and prevent damage to Government property.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

1. EDUCATION : Completion of Primary School (CEP) is required.

2. EXPERIENCE : A minimum of 2-year experience in the military or as a police officer, or security guard required.

3. LANGUAGE : French : Good working knowledge is required. English : Rudimentary knowledge is required. This may be tested.

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to understand the security control panel and to operate emergency alarms and the public address system. Ability to use state-of-the-art security and radio communication equipment. Ability to use Automated External Defibrillator. Ability to use fire extinguisher. Ability to use personal protective equipment (i.e., batons, pepper spray, handcuffs, and flexi cuffs, etc.). Ability to walk and/or stand in a wide variety of weather conditions for an extended period of time. Ability to work flexible shift schedules, to include nights, days, weekends, and/or holidays. This may be tested.

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Knowledge of the emergency response procedures and notification process, familiarity with state-of-the-art security equipment and processes, awareness of cultural norms and customs required.
