PAINTER

The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Painter in the Facilities Maintenance Section.
Opening Date : March 11, 2020
Closing Date : March 25, 2020

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 6,567,163 p. a. (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-04)

ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS (See Appendix for definition) MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :
This position is located in the Facility Maintenance Section (FAC) and incumbent directly reports to the Residential Maintenance Supervisor FSN-08. He/she performs a full range of skilled painting work for the maintenance and repair and construction at multiple U.S. Government Owned and Leased facilities. The incumbent performs surface preparation, selects the proper type of paint, and applies with brushes, rollers, or sprayers as required. Protects areas not to be painted and cleans all equipment for reuse. He/she is responsible for the safe storage, inventory, and disposal of painting bench stock.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

1. EDUCATION : Completion of Primary is required.

2. EXPERIENCE : Minimum of two (2) years of both masonry and painting related experience is required.

3. LANGUAGE : Level II (limited knowledge) speaking and writing French is required. Level II (limited knowledge) speaking and reading English is required. These may be tested.

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Must be able to understand and follow written instructions is required. Must know and conform to all established health and safety policies and procedures including personal protective equipment. Must have basic math skills to compute simple area and volume calculations and cost out minor jobs. Must be able to work outdoors, be able to climb ladders and scaffolding, and lift 20 kilos. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required. These may be tested.

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Must know how to use the tools of the trades and have a comprehensive knowledge of established trade practices and procedures including a thorough knowledge of paints, solvents, and paint additives. Should have a general knowledge of construction, maintenance, and occupational health and safety procedures in work related areas. Must be able to properly use all assigned safety equipment, painting tools, and paint products.
