The U.S. Embassy in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking individuals for the position of one Plumber Foreman in the Facilities Management Section.

Opening Date : November 23, 2016
Closing Date : December 06, 2016

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)

SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 6,763,923 p.a. (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-05)

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :
This position is the lead plumber in the Facility Maintenance Section of the American Embassy. Under the general supervision of the Residential Maintenance Supervisor, and supervising the work of employees engaged in the plumbing trades at residences. The incumbent is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in over 45 U.S. Government owned and leased residential properties in Ouagadougou

Required Qualifications :

NOTE : All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

• Education :
Primary education is required. Completion of secondary school is desired, and in particular, completion of vocational training recognized as producing journeyman plumbing skills.

● Work Experience :
Two years of commercial plumbing foreman or team leader is required, in addition to time as a full journeyman mechanic.

• Language Proficiency :
French Level III (good working knowledge) is required. English Level II (limited knowledge) is required. English language skill will be tested

• Job Knowledge :
A thorough knowledge of plumbing procedures, plumbing fixtures, plumbing components, local plumbing codes and local laws is required. Also, knowledge of construction, maintenance and safety procedures.

• Skills and Abilities :
Must be able to properly use tools, materials and equipment of the plumbing trade, plus some knowledge of welding and soldering. Must be able to life 40 kg, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces, such as underground tanks. Must be able to drive a vehicle and must possess a valid driver’s license. Must possess basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office suite. These will be tested.
