American Language Center : Job announcement
The American Language Center is seeking candidates for the recruitment of part-time English Language Instructors to serve in Ouagadougou.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The English Language Instructor under the direct supervision of the Director of Courses conducts English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes for the American Language Center (ALC) using a variety of teaching methodologies, but favoring a communicative approach, to encourage and achieve the development of listening comprehension skills, oral competence, and reading and writing skills in students through content emphasizing American culture, ideas, and values.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
1. Education
A U. S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in English, Education in English, Linguistics, or a related field or an EFL/ELT teaching certificate is required.
2. Prior Work Experience
A minimum of three years’ experience teaching English is required.
3. Language Proficiency
Instructors must have a minimum TOEFL equivalent score of 560. Fluency in English is required.
4. Knowledge
A thorough knowledge of teaching English as a foreign language to secondary school-level and/or post-secondary school-level and/or adult-level student audiences is required. Must have knowledge of communicative teaching methodologies in TEFL.
5. Skills and Abilities
Computer word processing and data processing skills required. Ability to use Microsoft operating systems required. Basic ability to use E-mail and Internet required. Classroom management skills required.
