The U.S. Embassy in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking individuals for the position of
Information Assistant (Digital Outreach) in the Public Diplomacy Section.

This position is located in the Public Diplomacy Section. Direct supervision is provided by the Publics Affairs Officer.

Opening Date : April 09, 2015
Closing Date : April 22, 2015

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 8,080,060 p.a (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-07)

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

The incumbent serves as an advisor to the PAO and Information Specialist, assisting the Information Specialist in planning, developing, scheduling and administering a country-wide media program that both promotes U.S. policy and engages the public. The Digital Outreach Assistant (or Information Assistant-Digital) has the responsibility for monitoring social media trends and developing the “e-voice” of the Mission. The incumbent also supports the public diplomacy activities and initiatives of the other PD units and other Mission sections. The incumbent serves as back up to the Information Specialist.

Required Qualifications :
NOTE : All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
• Education :
Completion of secondary education and one year of Post-secondary training in all forms of communication or university social sciences.
• Work Experience :
Minimum of One or two years of progressive work experience is required.
• Language Proficiency :
Level III English and Level IV French speaking and writing ability is required as proven through the technical test.

English language skills will be tested

• Knowledge :
Working knowledge of the social media environment is required as demonstrated in the technical test and the interview. Thorough understanding of youth culture and information technology relevant to reach youth audiences.

• Skills and Abilities :
Proficiency in the use of personal computers and advanced software suites such as the Microsoft suite is required ; ability to exercise initiative, work independently, and demonstrate resourcefulness in obtaining information, drafting concise reports in English ; familiarity with social media platforms and use of the Internet is required.
