The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Bodyguard in the Regional Security Office (RSO).

Opening Date : November 26, 2024
Closing Date : December 10, 2024

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 7,869,376 p.a. (Starting Salary/Full-Time)
(Position Bodyguard : FSN-05)

ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :

This position is in the Regional Security Office. Incumbent serves as a Bodyguard in the execution of protective security operations for the U.S. Ambassador/Chief of Mission (COM), and other designated or visiting U.S. government officials as directed. Position is under the direct supervision of the Bodyguard Supervisor and managed by the Regional Security Officer (RSO) of US Embassy Ouagadougou, to protect designated officials from harm and embarrassment.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

1. EDUCATION : High/Secondary school diploma is required. Host government Driver’s License to operate up to Sport Utility Vehicle is required.

2. EXPERIENCE : A minimum of three years’ experience as a commercial bodyguard, civilian or host government police or military is required.

3. LANGUAGE : English- Limited knowledge, reading/speaking/writing is required. This may be tested. French- Fluency, speaking, reading and writing is required. This may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Must have initiative and resourcefulness in accomplishing tasks. Must be able to deal effectively with people of other cultures to obtain cooperation and reach common goals. Possesses good leadership and interpersonal skills. Must have valid driver license. Must be able to demonstrate judgment and basic safe driving skills in both oral and practical examination. Must be able to operate an armored vehicle (if available) and pass the defensive driving training. Good working computer skills are required. Must be able to work variable shifts, 24 hour on-call schedule, and able to travel outside capital city on and as needed basis. Proficient in first aid and use of an Automated External defibrillator (AED). Must be alert, have fast reflexes, active thinking, excellent observational skills, adaptation, take decisive actions, stay calm in dangerous situations, teamwork, communication skills, etc. and can communicate effectively orally and in writing. Possess skills in the use of a firearm. Must be physically fit and be able to endure frequent travel, long working hours, and a stressful working environment while maintaining the above standards.

JOB KNOWLEDGE : A thorough knowledge of defense measures to be used in the event of a personal or terrorist attack, such as that learned in the military or law enforcement training. Knowledge in medical, fire, hostile attack, defensive and emergency driving procedures. Must be familiar with Burkinabé police, gendarmerie, military, security and other government offices to ensure effective liaison and to facilitate effective protective operations including advance and motorcade operations.
