The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Bodyguard Shift Lead in the Regional Security Office.

Opening Date : November 17, 2021
Closing Date : December 01, 2021

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 8,824,957 p.a. (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-06)

ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS (See Appendix for definition) MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :

Serves as the Bodyguard (BG) Shift Lead (SL) and/or Agent In Charge (AIC) for the Protective Security Unit in the execution of protective security operations for the U.S. Ambassador/ Chief of Mission (COM), and other designated or visiting U.S. government officials as directed. Under the supervision of the Bodyguard Supervisor and managed by the Regional Security Officer (RSO) to US Embassy Ouagadougou in order to protect him/her from harm and embarrassment.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

1. EDUCATION : Completion of high/secondary school (BAC) is required. Host government Driver’s License to operate up to Sport Utility Vehicle is required.
2. EXPERIENCE : A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a commercial bodyguard, civilian or host government police or military is required.

3. LANGUAGE English (Good Working Knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.

French (Fluency) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. These may be tested.

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to take initiative and show resourcefulness in accomplishing tasks. Ability to deal effectively with people of other cultures to obtain cooperation and reach common goals. Ability in leadership and interpersonal relations. Skill in safely operating an armored vehicle. Ability to work on a computer. Ability to work variable shifts, 24 hour on-call schedule. Ability to travel outside capital city on an as needed basis. Ability to administer emergency first aid and be qualified in AES/CPR.

Ability to be alert, exercise fast reflexes and active thinking, implement excellent observational skills, adaptation, take decisive. Actions and stay calm in dangerous situations. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to operate on a team. Skill in the use of a firearm. Ability to maintain physical fitness and endure frequent travel, long working hours in a stressful working environment while maintaining the above standards. These may be tested.

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : A thorough knowledge of defense measures to be used in the event of a terrorist attack, such as that learned in the military or law enforcement training. Knowledge in medical, fire, hostile attack, defensive and emergency driving procedures. Must be familiar with Burkinabe police services, military, security and other government offices to ensure effective liaison and to facilitate effective protective operations including advance and motorcade operations.

    Franchement c’est lamentable. On ne peut pas construire un pays dans l’incivisme et le desordre. C’est un droit de manifester et faire des revendications mais detruire des biens publics est un actte crminel et les coupables doivent en assumer. On ne peut pas continuer de cette maniere. Par ailleurs, il faut que les gens prennent conscience que les biens publics n’appartiennent pas a Roch ni au MPP encore moins au Maire, c’est pour tous les burkinabe,
    Soyons vraiment des hommes integres, respectons nos institutions, respectons nous, protegeons notre pays, son image dans le monde. C’est de cette maniere seuleument que nous ferons avancer le pays. Ceux qui veulent arriver au pouvoir devront attendre les elections c’est la seule voie legale et legitime.
