POLITICAL ASSISTANT/INL ASSISTANT

The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Political Assistant/INL Assistant in the Political Office.

Opening Date : September 14, 2021

Closing Date : September 28, 2021

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)

SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 15,901,225. a. (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-09)

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :

The incumbent will report directly to the Political Officer, and contribute to the Political Section’s information gathering, outreach, research and reporting on International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) issues to include criminal justice, law enforcement, wildlife trafficking, and corrections. The incumbent’s task will include financial management, administration, and logistical support, to support INL projects executed in Burkina Faso.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

1. EDUCATION : Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, journalism, law, business management, international development, international affairs, political science, or public administration, is required.

2. EXPERIENCE : At least 12 months of experience in oversight of international development projects, which could include planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting is required. Two years of experience working within an international context, for a business, NGO, government or international organization is required.

3. LANGUAGE : English - Fluent Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.
French - Good working knowledge Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. These may be tested.

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Must defend, negotiate, overcome resistance or settle highly significant or controversial issues ; incumbent must be able to coordinate and/or integrate work of groups with conflicting or undefined priorities ; Must have an excellent written communication skills to include preparing and writing complex reports and decision papers ; ability to work in international setting with different cultures and manage programs in a complex environment ; keyboarding skills & Microsoft Office package. These may be tested.

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Must have substantive knowledge and experience related to rule of law or civilian law enforcement programs and/or previous experience managing U.S. government assistance programs.
