BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION : Help Desk Computer Clerk assists the Senior Help Desk Computer Clerk attending to the needs of approximately 300 users at Embassy Ouagadougou. The incumbent receives direct supervision from the Senior Help Desk Computer Clerk and indirect supervision from the Computer Management Specialist (CMS). The incumbent provides Information Technology (IT) support and mobile device support on the Service Desk and backs up the telephone operators conducting switchboard operations. The incumbent assists maintain inventory records, issuance of mobile devices, cell phone cards, laptops and satellite phones. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED : 1. EDUCATION : Two years of University studies is required. 4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Interpersonal : ability to present a friendly, helpful, patient and caring impression to customers. Speaking and written communication : explaining policy or limitations on resources and communicate customer issues and expectations in detail and accurately. Conflict management : ability to be firm but tactful when explaining policy or limitations on resources. Requires the ability to conceptualize systems logically and troubleshoot moderately difficult issues. These may be tested. 5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Good knowledge of computer hardware and software, mobile computing, computer systems, and LAN networks. The job holder must be familiar with all Department of State rules and regulations concerning the security and procedures involved in computer operations. He/she must develop a good understanding of how all the mission sections interact with each other and with outside agencies.
