The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of SPEAR Coordinator in the Regional Security OfficeU.S. EMBASSY OUAGADOUGOU VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT # 19-12 ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS (See Appendix for definition) MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION. BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION : This position is located in the Regional Security Office and provides logistical support to the $2 million Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA), Special Program for Embassy Augmentation Response (SPEAR) Ouagadougou program. S/he maintains and improves liaison with the Government of Burkina Faso (GoBF) training partners and security forces. Incumbent assists the SPEAR mentor and visiting SPEAR instructors in the delivery of all SPEAR training, daily SPEAR operations, and assists with ATA training courses when possible. Incumbent reports directly to an Assistant Regional Security Officer (ARSO). Send and receive office correspondence and diplomatic notes and translate written and verbal messages from and to French, and English. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED : 1. EDUCATION : University degree in criminal justice, law, administration, management, business or political science is required. 3. LANGUAGE : Level IV (fluency) speaking and writing English is required. 4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact well with persons at all levels of government and the private sector. Must be able to successfully manage multiple projects at the same time. Must have a driver’s license and able to operate an armored vehicle. These may be tested. 5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Familiarity with Burkina Faso law enforcement organizations, military structure and organization and US Embassy missions and functions. Must have strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and planning skills, and be detail oriented.
