The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Administrative/Justice Assistant.
Opening Date : November 23, 2018

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 15,321,777 (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-09)

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :

The incumbent serves as an aid to the Department of Justice’s Resident Legal Advisor. He/she assists the Resident Legal Advisor in researching issues of law and procedure, planning and coordinating training programs, visits and conferences. Other responsibilities include establishing and maintaining contacts with host government officials, reviewing and interpreting draft legislation and generating legal reports. Additionally, the incumbent provides administrative support to the Resident Legal Advisor and to the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division Programs at post. The incumbent will report directly to the Resident Legal Advisor.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

1. EDUCATION : Bachelor Degree in Management, government, political science, international studies, international development, sociology, journalism or law is required
2. EXPERIENCE : Minimum of three years’ experience in exposure to legal practices with NGO, GoBF or law firm is required.

3. LANGUAGE : Level IV (Fluent) of reading, writing and speaking English is required. Level IV (Fluent) of reading, writing and speaking French is required. These may be tested.

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Strong communications skills, services oriented attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and poise are required. Strong writing skills in French and English are required. Standard knowledge of Microsoft Suite and typing skills are required. Strong organizational skills are required. These may be tested

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Must have good knowledge of pertinent DOS regulations, Understanding of Burkinabe criminal justice process and familiarity with Burkinabe courts, law enforcement and prosecution services is required. Understanding of regional government structures, including executive, judicial, and legislative authorities. Working knowledge of USG and State Department administrative frameworks.
