The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Clerk/Community Liaison Office Assistant in the Management Section.

Opening Date : August 20, 2018

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 8,201,629(Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-06)

ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS (See Appendix for definition) MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :

Incumbent assists the Community Liaison Office (CLO) Coordinators in developing and maintaining key CLO programs that benefit the morale and welfare of the Mission. Incumbent serves as a point of contact for all CLO organized activities within the Embassy and in Burkina Faso. Incumbent will assist the CLO in implementing and promoting cross-cultural activities, provide advice on Burkinabe culture to the Mission staff and their families, and assist in all CLO trips and social functions.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

1. EDUCATION : Completion of High School or equivalent diploma is required.

2. EXPERIENCE : At least two (02) years of experience in an administrative position involving events planning or travel/tourism activities.

3. LANGUAGE : Level IV (Fluency) speaking/reading/writing French is required. Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English is required. These may be tested.

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Must be proficient on a computer and Microsoft products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher). Must be proficient in use of social media, predominantly Facebook. Must be able to communicate effectively with all employees and family members in a personable fashion. Must be able to take initiative, be well organized, and detail-oriented. Must be able to perform limited travel both domestic and international. These may be tested

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Must have good knowledge of pertinent DOS regulations, programs, and policies. Incumbent must have good understanding of the functionality of the US Embassy, its organizational structure and it’s raison d’etre. S/he will have to understand how to import graphics into various software packages and how to turn them into something meaningful for the newsletter. Must have good knowledge of Ouagadougou and Burkina Faso’s local history, culture, religions, customs, and a good working knowledge of local resources for shopping, travel and leisure activities.
