The U.S. Embassy in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking individuals for the position of one Gardener Supervisor in the Facilities Management Section.

Opening Date : December 02, 2016
Closing Date : December 15, 2016

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 8,201,629 p.a. (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-06)

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :

The incumbent works directly for the Building Engineer, as directed by the Facility Manager, and is responsible for the maintenance of the grounds of the Chancery Compound, the Ambassador’s residence, and the Deputy Chief of Mission Residence. The incumbent supervises and trains approximately 11 gardeners ; and develops contacts with local nurseries and horticultural supply vendors.

Required Qualifications :

NOTE : All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

• Education :
Completion of secondary school, plus two years of post-secondary education at the university or technical school level is required.

● Work Experience :
Five years of experience in ornamental horticulture, landscaping or nursery operations are required. Two years supervisory experience is required.

• Language Proficiency :

Level III (good working knowledge) English. Level IV French. English language skill will be tested

• Job Knowledge :

Must be familiar with theories and practices of landscape gardening. Must have thorough knowledge of all local plants, trees and shrubs. Must be familiar with local plant diseases and their treatment. Must know how to safely handle and apply fertilizers and pesticides. Must be skilled in the safe operation of power equipment, including chainsaws and lawnmowers.

• Skills and Abilities :

Must be able to develop written plans and schedules for planting, fertilization, and pest control. Must be able to train, supervise, coordinate, and schedule gardeners. Must be capable of performing some heavy physical work. Must be flexible and able to work independently. Must be able to properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the job activity.
Must possess a valid driver’s license for light truck (pickup trucks). Need basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. - These will be tested.

    I want to job with you but now i am far from a tawn were my docments can be scaned for you. If it is possible i can go to Ouagadougou this 25 december with them. I have olmost 16 experience in foresterie and all year make flours and trees between 3 and 5 thousand. Again, i am supervisor of 5 far were are planted trees. 76-55-45-18 thank you
