The U.S. Embassy in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking individuals for the position of Safety Program Coordinator in the Facilities Management Section.

Opening Date : March 14, 2016
Closing Date : March 28, 2016

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 8,910,288 p.a (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-07)

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

Incumbent serves as the Safety Program Coordinator with responsibility for assisting the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (POSHO) in carrying out the day to day functions of the Safety Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) and Fire Protection Division (FIR) programs at post as required by 15 FAM in the Facilities Management Section. Assures that all government owned and leased property meets the requirements of 15 FAM. The incumbent maintains a statistical database and a hazardous materials inventory. Acts as the Post fire warden who organizes and assists Post Fire Marshal in executing fire drills ; investigates and reports to Washington on fires at Post. Monitors the correction of all infractions found by OBO/SHEM, OBO/FIR, Annual Inspection Survey (AIS) and other investigations. Required Qualifications :

Education :

Two year diploma in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Nursing, Pre-Med or Public Health is required.

● Work Experience :

Five years working as a Site Safety Coordinator.

• Language Proficiency :

Level III (Good Working Knowledge) English Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.
Level IV (Fluent) French Reading/Writing/Speaking is required - English language skill will be tested

• Job Knowledge :

Current Industrial and Construction safety standards and best practices will be tested. Evidence of continuing education in Safety and/or First Aid must be provided.

• Skills and Abilities :

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have great interpersonal skills. Must be self-directed and keep track of multiple priorities. Must possess a current driver’s license. Must be able to make formal presentations.
These will be tested.
