AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC TEAM LEAD/CHIEF MECHANIC

The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Automotive Mechanic Team Lead / Chief Mechanic in the General Services Office.

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 8,824,957 p.a. (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-06)

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION :

This position is in the Management Section of the General Services Office Motor pool/Auto-mechanic Workshop Section. The incumbent of this position is one of four (4) journeymen automotive mechanics in the General Services Office (GSO). The incumbent serves as the Chief Mechanic, supervising three other automotive mechanics. Daily supervision is provided by the Motor Pool Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

1. EDUCATION : Completion of Primary School is required. Completion of automotive technical training (2 years) is required.

2. EXPERIENCE : Minimum ten years’ experience in general technical auto mechanic services, including repairs on U.S. or foreign manufactured vehicles, both gasoline or diesel engines, motor bikes and bicycles Is required.

3. LANGUAGE : English - (Limited knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.
French - (Good working knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. This may be tested

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Must have the ability to drive all mission vehicles and the forklift. Possesses a valid local driving license (Commercial level Class "D"). Communicates with internal Motor Pool colleagues as well as members of the Facilities Maintenance team. Incumbent must be able to communicate their technical needs to the procurement section or vendors. Basic typing skill is required. Must have the ability to use ILMS. This may be tested.

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Must have automotive mechanic trade knowledge and ability to repair engines, automatic and manual transmission gears, electrical and body works, brakes and conduct general maintenance. Position is required to understand Post motor vehicle policies, and can repair, and drive all mission vehicles. Position is required to be able to communicate with all levels Embassy Community. Knowledge of Burkina Faso road network, and local traffic regulations is required
